Rachel Falls in Love

The sidewalk was so icy.
In December, it was cold.
Rachel walking in her high heeled boots,
Saw a young man from afar.

She tripped,
She fell,
He ran to her and asked if she was hurt.

Rachel got up rather startled,
By such politeness … not the norm.
It was something quite old fashioned,
After all, he seemed so young.

First a concert,
Then a dinner,
Then Christmas shopping at the mall.
They got closer, so much closer….
Rachel knew he was the one.

Holidays came up and she asked him to her parents’,
So that he won’t be alone.
It was nice to be together,
Snuggle up with him forever.
Didn’t want the night to end.

After New Years, Rachel came for him,
But instead she found a note,
When she opened up his letter,
Rachel thought it meant goodbye.

But no,
A thousand times no.
His father died and he flew back to Wales.

The note said, “Rachel,
Not to worry.
I won’t leave you.
You’re my heart.”
