KC LIVE TONIGHT AT SMALL WORLD COFFEE IN PRINCETON, NJ WITH DRUMMER!!!! - August 28, 2008

Hi there!

This is just a short note to remind you that I will be playing tonight at Small World Coffee in Princeton, NJ. At this gig, I will be joined by drummer, Winston Jordan. We just practiced last night and we have a beat-packed program for you.

Cathy :)

P.S. My September 7, 2008 gig at the Bitter End in Greenwich Village is also coming up very soon among a series of other September dates.

More Gigs in September!!!!!! - August 26, 2008

Hi everybody!!!

I just posted several more gigs that are due to take place next month. Today is a beautiful day in New Jersey. My week started off in Philadelphia at the World Cafe Live and it continues today at the Tritone in Philadelphia. I'm also looking forward to my upcoming gig at Small World Coffee in Princeton this Thursday, August 28.

I am slowly finding my way around Pro-Tools and I have just cleared away some studio workspace to make room for the new technology. If you have any Pro-Tools advice for me, please send it my way before I get into trouble. I'm a musician first and then a dabbler in technology.

WOW! I can't believe that the summer is almost over! I hope that you all enjoy what's left of it.

Always moving forward in the pursuit of Cathiness,

Cathy :)

So What’s New? - August 13, 2008

Hi there!

It's been a while since I updated my website with new information. Myspacers can check out some new photos on myspace. I put new photos on myspace instead of the website because I don't have a lot of time to dedicate to resizing photos so that they come out perfectly on the website.

A couple of new gigs at the Twisted Tree in Asbury Park, NJ have been added to my calendar. I will also be performing once again at the legendary Bitter End in New York City on September 7 with hopes of seeing some of you there.

So what's new with me in the last couple of weeks? Hmmmmmm. Let's see.....I visited family and had the pleasure of meeting a couple of KC fans in Maine! When I came back, I went out to play at John & Peters in New Hope, PA, began work on a new studio track and played at Puck Live in Doylestown, PA in the middle of the week. I had a blast playing at the Starbucks in Basking Ridge, NJ last Thursday where I'm meeting a lot of you. Thanks for coming out and supporting me!

In addition to the regular KC gigs, I also added three hour marathon instrumental piano gigs at the Villa Capri in Doylestown, PA to my schedule on two Friday nights each month. As I mention in my calendar, I don't play just original KC music. You could find me playing just about anything under the sun. If you're in the area, check it out and hear for yourself. I haven't installed anything yet but I also recently purchased a mini version of Pro-Tools so that I can be more productive at home. This week, so far, I have played at the Philly Rising Open Mic at World Cafe Live as well as Havana's in New Hope, PA. I end my week at the Villa with a full finger workout.

As you can read from this blog, I have been keeping myself very busy. The fun isn't stopping anytime soon. I hope you'll stick around.

Always moving forward in the pursuit of Cathiness,

Cathy :)

"Sashimi" NOW PLAYING on Myspace!! - July 18, 2008

Hi everybody!

Happy Friday to you! This morning, I'm giving you something new for your listening pleasure. It's just a little "something for the weekend" in the form of a song called "Sashimi". The inspiration for this song came from a visit to an open mic early last fall where the host admitted that he preferred sashimi over sushi. LOL! Somehow, I knew that a song was to come of it. So here it is! As soon as I am able to get this new track on iTUNES, I'll let you know!

Here's the credit list:
Performance, Production & Arrangement: Cathy Wiegand
Sound Engineering, Technical Advice & Electric Guitar: Michael Kianka
Bass: Kjell Benner
Drums: Simon Einspar
Recorded at: DTC Studios - Ewing, NJ
July, 2008

Have a great weekend!
You know that I'm moving forward in the pursuit of Cathiness!

Enjoy!

Cathy :)

P.S. I'm so excited to be playing the Bitter End in Greenwich Village, NYC this Sunday!

POWERPOPAHOLIC.COM REVIEW OF ''SUSHI LOVER" - July 16, 2008

Hi everybody!

Powerpopaholic.com just reviewed my "Sushi Lover" EP. You can either check it out right here in my blog or directly on the Powerpopaholic.com website.www.powerpopaholic.com

Keyboard Cathy "Sushi Lover"

Yes, Cathy has an old Broadway sense of melody and a Roland E-600 keyboard. But it's not all pop showtunes and kitsch. It falls somewhere between The Carpenters and Julie Andrews, the best of this is evidenced in the song "Golden Child" which won Honorable Mention in the Broadway/Cabaret category of the Unisong International Songwriting Contest. The song "Sushi Lover" is like the ultimate dinner music for Japanese eating - as it has instructional narrative that teaches you how to enjoy eating the food. And the pop melodies are upbeat and cheerful (almost saccharine) and the messages in the music sound straight out of Dr. Phil's motivational guide. You will either love it or not, but it's worth a listen.

P.S. More live gigs are comiing soon along with a preview of the studio version of my new "Sashimi" track!

"Sashimi" Soon to Preview on Myspace... (My First Bitter End Gig Takes Place on Sunday 7/20) - July 14, 2008

Hi there!

I'm sitting here in front of the computer having finished my peanut butter sandwich. Even though my life is busy, I do my best to stay in touch with you. Last Saturday, I played for three hours straight at the Villa Capri in Doylestown, PA. If you love Italian food and you're in the Buck's County area it's worth a visit. I'll be playing another set there next Saturday night and hope to play there sometime again in the future.

There are a couple of upcoming reasons for me to celebrate.

1. By this Friday, "Sashimi" will be up on myspace for the listening! I hope that it will also be available soon as a digital download.

2. Sunday, July 20, 2008 will be my debut at The Bitter End in New York City. I hope that you can join me for this special day.

Tonight, I'm off to John and Peters to join my friends. I hope to see you soon!

Cathy

Hi there!

It's a busy week for KC! On Monday, I was at John & Peters in New Hope. Yesterday, I went the second ever Tritone Open Mic in Philadelphia. Today, it's off to Philadelphia again where I hope to join Bilk and friends for an evening of music at Cafe Mocha. I hope he has room for me on his schedule as I thought that I wasn't going to be able to make it officially. Tomorrow, it's off to Gourmet Expressions in Middlesex, NJ to play an hour set there.

If you haven't seen my live performance of "Sushi Lover" on my profile or on Youtube, you might want to check it out. It really is a fun video with audience participation. Since went up last Friday it got about 383 hits. My new track, "Sashimi" is still in production but hope to share it with you here sometime soon.

KC Becomes Featured Artist on DMusic.com - June 14, 2008

Hi there!

About a day after I posted my most recent review of my first album, "Inspiration", I became a Featured Artist on DMusic.com. This is a really cool music community for anyone who wants to be heard.

http://www.dmusic.com/

Can you see my album in there? It should be in the first row of icons below "The Smokin Mirrors". I also wanted to let you know that my two songs in the Musical Theater Category, "Eternity" and "Rachel Falls In Love" charted at number one and number two respectively on the musical theater chart yesterday.

To those of you who listen to me on DMusic, thanks so much for your continuous support!

Weekly Update - 6/10, New Review of "Inspiration" Just In! - June 10, 2008

Hi there!

Happy summer! Where I am in New Jersey, we are kicking off June with a tropical heatwave. I don't mind it one bit that we're having this hot weather, which is more typical of July and August than June.

Anyway, I'm happy, well, and keeping very busy with my music. Last week, I had the pleasure of playing at a new place called Gourmet Expressions in Middlesex, New Jersey. Can't wait to perform there again this week! I also had the privilege of seen one of my fellow musicians, Phillip Brazer, play at the Bitter End last Sunday. His set was phenomenal. Please check out his profile among my top friends. It won't be long before it's my turn at the end of this month! For those of you who haven't been there yet, there is a baby grand piano on stage that sounds out of this world.

Yesterday, a new review of my first album went up on a music review site called "Ink 19"! Below is the link just in case you're interested in reading it.

http://www.ink19.com/issues/june2008/musicReviews/musicK/keyboardCathyWiegand.html

Work continues on the "Sashimi" track as we move forward today with the possiblity of adding a guitar track. I'm going into the studio this evening, so this should be interesting. Upcoming gigs this week include Gourmet Expressions, the Villa Capri in Doylestown, PA and the Zebra Striped Whale. Yesterday, I played at John and Peter's and met a couple of friends.

Stay cool and I'll keep you posted!

Always moving forward in the pursuit of Cathiness,

Cathy :)
