Hello everyone!
Once again, happy spring! All is well! I must say that it feels good to leave the house without a heavy jacket. With the exception of a few rainy days, the temperature has been comfortably warm. With the birds happily chirping and a full calendar, I am pleased to brief you on what's going on in the land of Keyboard Cathy.
Now let's see...... where will I begin?
Reunited
The good news is that, "Roland", my beloved E-600 has returned from the "keyboard hospital." Some of you may know that I had been experiencing occasional technical difficulties. After several months of repeat visits to the repair shop, the technician finally identified that the POWER SUPPLY was the culprit and proposed that it be replaced. Today, when I went to the repair shop to pick up Roland, I was presented with the old power supply, which resembles a bird's eye view of a New Jersey industrial park with its cylindrical gas tanks and warehouse style buildings. "Keep it as a souvenir," suggested the technician as I left the shop. I think I have an honored place in mind for it in my "studio". When I get a chance, I'll upload a picture so that you can see what used to be in my keyboard. It really does look like an industrial plant from the air.
Two Gigs in One Saturday
This coming Saturday morning, Saturday May 16, I will be playing two gigs. One gig involves getting up before the crack of dawn to appear on local cable television as well as world-wide web casting.
Megathon 2009 - 5:30 AM
369 Witherspoon Street
Princeton, NJ 08540
Princeton TV can be viewed on cable channel 30 throughout the Princeton Township/ Princeton Borough on the Comcast Cable System and on channel 45 of Verizon's FiOS system.
The Megathon will also be web cast on May 15 and May 16. Go to
http://www.princetontv.org, then just click on the link that will let you watch from your computer ANYWHERE in the world. Those of you in Europe, Asia and the Pacific Rim may have an easier time accessing this performance since it will be going on during the day your time as opposed to the wee hours of the morning.
Don't be surprised if you hear me play something that hasn't graced the myspace page yet. As I have mentioned before, I am compiling new material for the next KC album to be released at some point in the future. Please don't ask me when because I don't know yet.
After that, I will be playing a forty five minute set at Pennington Day at
10:00 AM at the small stage at Howe Commons off of Main Street. I'm looking forward to seeing fans that I haven't seen since last year's event.
KC Contributes Two Songs to "Rite of Passage: In Excess"
Back in December, I got on the mailing list for The Rotunda Theater in Philadelphia, PA. A new type of theatrical experiment called "Rite of Passage" was in its infancy phase. In January, I performed in "Phase I" of the project, which consisted of a variety show of sorts.
At the end of this month,we are scheduled to perform, "Phase II", which is a cohesive program with the theme of "In Excess". I wrote what could qualify as a title song. A brief reprise to this title song will be toward the end of the program. I hope that one day, I will get around to writing a full musical. For now, with the help of my sequencer, I'm happy to "orchestrate" my contributions to "Rite of Passage".
